Local History on Facebook

Lost Melbourne

There are some cool local history sites popping up on Facebook. It is interesting to see how engaged people are with loads of sharing, commenting and liking, and these sites are gathering dozens of followers every day. Not strictly library, but included here to show one way historical photos are being used on social media and how much people love to get involved.

People can ask questions such as ‘Anyone remember the mural that was at Moorabbin train station?’  (posted by Wayne, on Lost Melbourne Facebook timeline, Tuesday 2 July, 2013) and are using these platforms to crowd source information and start conversations.

Past 2 present

Check out Past 2 Present, which compares then and now photos from around the state and also Lost Country Victoria for pictures and posts about our rural towns.
